You're in the Country

One day at church Jeff was talking to a lady and her family in the foyer.  The lady's purse started moving and two things fell out.  Then they started moving on the ground.  Someone pointed them out to her, and she picked them up.  Jeff mentioned that they looked pretty cute, and she said they were her skunks.  Their mom was killed and so she was going to raise them and train them.  She said they were making noise and so she got them to go to sleep.  She said they were supposed to be sleeping.

Seriously one of the funniest things that has happened since moving to the country!

Sorted

The calves have a new home!  After getting sorted off their moms in March we held them in the handling facility.  Now that we have two pens set up we moved them over!  I think they are loving having the grass to eat!  This is a lot more space than they had before!  I hope they love their new home!

Hello June

It was a beautiful day!  On the way home from the ranch we stopped at the lookout.  It was great!  When I took the kids to the church for activities the sky was amazing!  What a great evening!  Happy June everyone!

Penned

Lizzy got spayed recently.  Unfortunately, her incision ended up getting infected.  We had to separate her from Darcy so that her wound could heal, without any extra licking!  We decided to build it right next to their original pen so that they could still hang out together, across the fence.  Hopefully this will be a temporary situation and her wound will heal quickly.
Also, it was time to get more feeder piglets!  We built out a new pig area in pasture 7.  They seem to be doing well so far!  It's always fun to have pigs on the ranch!

Everything is Terrible

Sometimes it seems as though everything is terrible.  Especially when you are a teenager... and a girl :). Poor Sandra was having a hard day.  Sometimes I just need to get some photographic evidence of the drama.  Also, it gives us something to look back at and laugh!  Oh, and it was a day of beautiful clouds, which makes everything better!

Park Fun!

It was another meet up with the Hulls day!  We love still trying to stay close, even though we moved even farther away!  This time we met in Canton at a cute little park.  The kids made funny videos and ran around playing frisbee golf and who knows what else!  Amanda and I got to enjoy our time catching up as well!  These years of having kids really are flying by!  I'm glad we get to do it with friends!

What Once was Lost

The mulcher finished clearing out the bottom of pasture 6.  It is a pretty dangerous area for us to navigate, yet alone mow.  Now we can see everything again!  It's pretty crazy how bad it got.  The bulls had played with a mineral feeder last year and lost it down in the lower area.  We retrieved it once, only for them to lose it again.  We decided that now that we could see we would look for the missing mineral feeder.  It was stuck in the creek and down under the brush!  We never would have found it if we didn't have it cleared out!  With the kids help, I was able to pull it out and reclaim it again for future use.
