When Grandma comes to town

My mom, Grandma Whitmer, came to visit me for my birthday :).  It was fun to see her and do some fun stuff, but also fun for the kids to get to spend time with her too!  Grandma hurt her ankle so we didn't get out and do a lot of walking or anything too crazy.

I did take her to the Dallas Zoo right after she got off the plane.  We were right there and the kids needed to redeem all of their accumulated points at the nature exchange.  It wasn't a lot of walking, but it is still a zoo afterall.  Once we were done at the nature exchange the kids wanted to walk the zoo.  We went and looked at a few animals before being done for the day.

Sleepy kids are just too cute!  I think they were worn out!

The next day we spent time at the park by our house and the older kids rode bikes while the little ones played.  The last day we went out to lunch at Braums and Grandma bought everyone ice cream.  The kids were in heaven!

Yay for delicious ice cream!

We love when Grandma Whitmer comes to visit!

Birthday time again!

For my birthday Tiffany took me out to get our toes done and then to lunch.  It was nice to get out and pamper my feet... and get yummy food.  Getting to hang out with Tiffany is present enough :)

Jeff got me an awesome shirt for my birthday!  It was a fun surprise!  It is from the TV show Friends.

OK, so you probably cant see us in the picture, but this is Jeff and I out for a movie for my birthday.  We got to see Fate of the Furious 8.  I think that was as much a present for Jeff as for me.  It was a fun night, and we even went with Nathan, Tiffany, and Jeff's parents.

Another birthday done :)

Homeschool Day at 6 Flags!

This was our first year in town for 6 Flags homeschool day.  We also have season passes so it was not any extra expense to go.  We met up with some friends and hung out with the cousins.  Everyone had a great time and there was actually more people than I thought would be there.  I got to go on Mr. Freeze with some of the big kids.  While waiting in line the kids played tag... with their head.  It was silly to watch, but entertaining.

By the end of the day many of the families had cleared out... which left the lines super short, or even non-existent!  Here we are at Batman.  Brandy and I took the littles up and waited while the big kids rode and then they took over the littles so Brandy and I could ride.  While we waited the kids had fun playing on the poles for the lines :).

Things I learned at homeschool day.  Most of the kids wore appropriate clothing and didn't walk around staring at a cell phone.  There were parents with the groups of children, even the teens.  The kids were polite and I didn't hear any crude language.  I kind of wish every day at 6 Flags was homeschool day ;)

Math Stress

Sometimes math can be stressful.... especially if it involves pie charts :).  Poor Sandra was getting pretty worked up about them and just couldn't figure it out without freaking out forever first.  Man, this homeschool job can get stressful!

She finally settled down and worked through it, but she sure had a fit about it first.  Maybe she will learn to just work though it without the fit next time.

"But why pie charts?" - Chica

This is laugh crying... it's how you look like you aren't crying, even though you are!

Soccer Party

Mhari's team got together to have a soccer party at Peter Piper Pizza. This was the first time that Mhari has gotten to go to a party like this .... and gone to anywhere like Peter Piper Pizza :).  She had a great time eating and playing.  Everyone pitched in for a gift for her coach too.  It was nice to celebrate the season!

Mud and Tape!

Our remodel project has been sitting on hold.  We had a ton of mudding and taping to get done on the new sheet rock.  It was actually a bit discouraging.  There just never seems to be enough time in the day to do work and work on the house.  I ended up hiring Matt Krnavek to come finish it out.  He also installed our bedroom door for us.  Now I can paint!  Some day the whole project will be finished, but until then we take joy in the small victories :).

Super cute attic entrance door!  Plus the texture is on the wall!
