Mhari wanted to hatch more chicks this year. We bought our own incubator that can do up to 3 dozen eggs. The Cabrera's were kind enough to share 18 eggs with us! It was a little wait, but so exciting when you first hear a cheep! Only 9 hatched out so that was disappointing. That just meant that Mhari went and bought 6 more from Atwoods to even things out. Now we have so many little chicks! I know the kids are all in love! They sure are cute when they are tiny!!
Jeff and I went to Athens to learn more about container gardening. We learned about wicking tubs and built our own. It was time to put all that knowledge to use! We picked out some plants from the store and got to planting. There are tomatoes, bell peppers, hot peppers, peas, cucumbers, and potatoes. Here's hoping for a bounteous harvest in a few short months!
Things have warmed right up, and it feels like spring! Well, it will be spring soon, even if the spring flowers have started to peek out a bit early. The missionaries came out to help with some more service, and we piled more branches for me to pick up with the tractor. The clean up from the loggers a few years back is still dragging on!
The conditions were favorable for another burn! Clark lit it up! We also burned around the slabs and an old tree. Part of the fire started getting close to the big barn on its west side. Clark helped to stamp it out so that we didn't accidentally burn it down. It feels good to get things cleaned up around here!
