90s Dress up

I have kept quite a few dresses from growing up.  A few have made an appearance and have entered my girls wardrobes over the years.  Now that Lorna is an adult size it was fun to have her try on my old dresses.  There was even one that Mhari fit!  Lorna was able to add several dresses into her wardrobe.  The funniest thing is that the dresses are now back in style!  The first one my mom made me.  I was jealous that she had made dresses for my older sisters, but not me.  I got to pick out the pattern and material.  It was a fun dress to wear.  The dark blue dress Jeff bought me for my 19th birthday.  It's crazy to see my daughter in it!  The purple dress was my dress for my best friend, Taffery's, wedding.  The maroon dress was for Marissa's wedding and the royal blue dress was for Christa's wedding.  The dress that Mhari is wearing I made after Mhari was born (maybe Clark?).

I know they won't wear all of these dresses, but they sure brought back memories!  Such a fun night playing dress up with my girls!

Captain Jack

When Sandra was in town, she went through her stuff and was going to get rid of her squishmallows.  We saved them and they have added to our living room stuffed animals, couch pillows ;).  There is one flipamallow, who Sandra named Captain Jack Sparrow (for the parrot side) and William Turner (for the penguin side).  Since it flips, the stuffed animal can fit on someone's head.  Lorna and Clark had too much fun being Captain Jack :).

Spring Calf!

Patricia had her calf!  She missed the winter crop of calves and I was wondering if she was going to get back on cycle!  The other calves are starting to turn brown so it's fun to have a tiny orange one again!  It's a little boy and it's so cute!  Good job Patricia!

Domestic Godess

It was a nice weekend getting some wonderful domestic things done!  It was time to can more pears and bake more sourdough bread.  The bread turned out amazing!  The pears look great... however, I should have peeled the pears.  Oops.  The kids aren't enjoying eating them with the skin on.  Well, I can't be perfect all the time :).

Home Upgrade

We have been working on building a new chicken coop for our little chicks.  They have gotten big so quickly!!  Jeff helped us build out the frame and the girls helped me with the sides and roof.  We got the hardware cloth secured and the automatic door on... time for the chicklets to move in!  Mhari was in charge of making sure her chicks were all settled in.  There was a chicken that wasn't walking straight after being stuck in the brooder for so long.  She helped teach it how to walk again.  It's so nice that the chicks have more space!

Next up... how will Lizzie do with chickens free ranging!?

Engaged!

Sandra and Nathan are officially engaged!  Nathan had reached out to see about proposing while they were in Texas.  He also had to route the ring to our address since it wasn't delivered yet.  Sandra and Nathan designed the ring.  It turned out so good!  The ring didn't arrive until Friday morning ... and they were leaving Saturday morning!  That evening they went to the Bakers home to ride horses.  They came home for dinner and Sandra took Nathan out on a tractor ride.  They went into pasture 7 to look at the buffalo and Nathan proposed!  We were very secretly, not too secretly, watching from inside the house (maybe even with the help of binoculars).  Jeff got some photos from super far away too.  It was so fun to have them come back home and announce the engagement!

It was awesome to get to be in on the secret and also not spoil the surprise!  Sandra was still convinced the ring was in Idaho.  We are so happy for them and are ready to get their wedding planned!

Bridal Shopping

Sandra and Nathan are getting ready for their wedding (so close to being engaged)!  While they were in town, I got to take Sandra wedding dress shopping.  We checked out several stores, but finding modest dresses was very difficult.  We knew this would be an issue, but we had fun anyway finding different styles of dresses Sandra might like.  It was a fun exhausting day in Dallas!  Here are just a few of the fun dresses she tried on!

Protective

Sandra got out her boxes of her stuff from when she was younger.  She had fun showing Nathan her things.  There was one sketch book that she was quite protective of.  She literally would not show him.  Nathan wasn't taking no for an answer and a wrestling match broke out.  Sandra held her ground for a good while, but eventually Nathan got the sketch book.  The drawings are good and it was all so silly for her to feel self conscious.

Sandra and I also went into Tyler for an eye appointment.  She needs new glasses so it was fun to try some on so she could pick something new.

Dressing Up

Sandra wasn't here when her sisters tried on my wedding dress.  It was her turn.  It looked so good on her!  She showed it to Nathan and he loved it too!  She had fun trying it on, but it wasn't the dress she wanted for her wedding.  That's fine.  I never expected anyone to actually wear my dress.  I hope she finds a dress that she loves as much as I loved mine!

Williams Family Fun

It was time for another Williams family get together.  Nathan and Tiffany hosted.  The first hour or so we helped make shelves for their garage and organize their storage totes.  Then it was lunch and game time.  Jeff and I went to DFW airport to pick up Sandra and Nathan.  We then had a few more hours with family before heading home.  The kids, and Leann, played a game while the rest of us hang out and chatted.  The time went so fast, but it was so fun to be together and especially for Sandra to introduce Nathan to the family.

Jam Season

I made strawberry jam again!  It is time!!  Even though strawberries are in season, it is still hard to find them on sale.  I did get lucky, so I made the delicious jam again!  I never does last long once I make it.

Light it up!

The weather was beautiful and it was time to light another burn pile.  This one was pretty flat and seemed to burn pretty quickly.  It was by the large ponds and surrounded by road so I wasn't worried about the fire spreading.  Well, it spread.  Thankfully the road was the perfect fire break so it stayed in that one area.  A few dead trees lit up with the fire as well.  We wanted the dead trees to fall, but no such luck.  It did look really cool at night though.  It is nice to have another burn pile out of the way, even if not all of the logs burned all the way away.
