The last Wood

We finally finished out the family room and living room!  The wood felt like it would never end, but it finally did.  We were surprised at how much water damage there was throughout the floors.  The dishwasher had leaked through the wall into the dining room and the guest room has lots of damage from the window.  It is amazing how well the wood hid the damage. It's good we have time to make repairs before the new wood gets installed.  It will be sure nice when this is all finished!

We are lucky that the kids have been such willing helpers!  Lots of wood and lots of taking the wood out to the trailer!

You can see the sun damage that the floor had endured over the many years!

Bye-bye tile

When I got back from soccer games, Jeff was hard at work in the bedroom working on removing thinset from the floor.  The wood planks had it under some of them.  Then I went into the bathroom to find Jeff had already removed all of the tile in the master bathroom.  Jeff had rented a tool and it didn't work too well on the glue left by the wood floor, but it worked great on the tile.  It was a good way of using it to not waste our time with the rental.  Nathan even came over to help out for a little bit.

No more tile!

Saturday Soccer

Along with lots of construction we are living with lots of soccer!  Mhari's team has had mostly 8 am games.  It has made for tired weekends.  She has played goalie or midfield and done really well.  It's so stressful to have her as goalie, but she handles it well!
Talmage and Grant are also playing so we are down to 2 teams this season.  Talmage has been the main goalie for his team and Grant has rotated between offense and defense.  It's been fun attending their games and cheering them on!

This was a beautiful foggy morning.

Funny Friends

Our geese friends really enjoy visiting our yard.  They are so comfortable that they don't even mind when Daddy goes to work and has to back out of the driveway.  They sure are funny friends!

Little Workers

We had to move out the family room furniture so we could keep going with our wood removal.  LIttle Bug and Dog were super cute little helpers!

Harvey Relief!

Hurricane Harvey hit Houston really bad!  There was over 50 inches of rain that collected in Houston!  That is the highest rainfall total recorded from a single storm.  The flooding was ridiculous!  After the storm the church called in relief efforts from the surrounding area.  Jeff, Talmage and Grant headed down with our ward to help clean out homes.  They worked hard on Saturday and Sunday.  Grant was in charge of the wheelbarrow.  They basically had to gut the houses from all of the stuff that was soaked!  It was hard work, but a blessing to help those in Houston!

Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Master removal

The floor in the master was  the next victim!  The kids did great getting it up.  Jeff and I helped too, but it is a blessing to have so many little helpers!  Sometimes the littlest ones are the best helpers.

It looks good!

This is what the new flooring planks look like.  They are in the light so it's hard to tell how dark they are.  They are 3/4 inch maple hardwood floor.  It's going to look awesome!

Bullocks

Another soccer season has started for Jeff and FC Bullocks!  I enjoy getting to go watch and cheer on Jeff and his team! The refs can make or break a game so we will see how this season goes.

Office Space

About a year ago we ripped this fireplace apart.  We really didn't like how much space it took up in the office.  After taking all of the brick off we decided that we would keep the fireplace.... so we had to build back in the fireplace.  We didn't add back in the huge hearth so it takes up less space and looks a lot nicer!

While we were at it we decided to just take out the flooring in the office.  We want to redo all of the wood in the house and we finally found a wood floor that we like so it's time to take out the old floor.  It wasn't that hard to get out.  The kids all enjoyed taking turns to get it out too.

That white spot was primer over some nasty rotting wood floor.  The previous owner never bothered to repair the wood in the office and instead had primered over it and then put carpet over it too.  What a pain!

So gross!

We are looking forward to having a nice office space!

Exhausted!

Everyone is so tired!  It can be hard living on a schedule.  It sure is nice to rest and recover from getting back into the swing of things again :)
