Visting!

After the ranch we stopped by to surprise Sandra at work.  I know she has wanted us to stop by and visit, so it was fun to do it.  She is such a cute little Chick-fil-a employee!  She's doing great and learning all of the things!  Keep up the great work!  We love you!

Sad Day

Calving season is upon us. We are anxiously awaiting the new calves!  We had a surprise today, #3, Lindsay had a calf, but it was still born.  We didn't even think she was pregnant.  Steve came over to help dispose of the calf.  That was very nice of him!  It is hard to start the season with a death.  Hopefully we will get more beautiful healthy calves soon!  Ranching isn't an easy job, that's for sure!

Mulch Time

The time has come to work on pasture 5.  That means a lot of mulching!  The saplings have been taking over the area and we needed them gone!  We hired a skid steer mulcher.  He couldn't do all the trees we wanted gone, but he got most of the saplings.  It is nice to have a fresh start!  It's always amazing to me to see how quickly saplings can take over an area!

Eight Eyes

These 2 cuties got new glasses!  Clark finally joined the glasses club.  He was bothering me about not being able to see so it was time to take him in to get his eyes checked.  His eyesight isn't terrible, but bad enough to get his first pair of glasses.  Mhari has been patiently counting down to getting contacts.  Well, even when we get them, she will need a backup pair of glasses.  It's always fun to get new glasses and see how everyone changes.  They sure are growing up quickly!

Oops!

I was doing some drilling with the front loader auger... and hit the skirting on the pavilion :(.  Oh man!  I felt so bad!  Now to find a replacement part and get it fixed!  Luckily their customer service people are really great and helped us figure out what part to get!  Hopefully it won't be broken for too long!

Electric?!

One day when I showed up on the ranch to do chores I saw Oncor workers on the ranch.  They ended up digging up a whole line through our pen b to get to our transformer area.  They had not arranged anything with us and we were shocked to say the least!  Jeff talked to the Oncor guy who said the workers had everything approved with us.  We sure got the run around between what the contractor workers said and the contact with Oncor.  Luckily, they got the line all put in and a new transformer set.  It has been a long time coming, but it looks like we have power on the ranch again!

Oh, and now we have to rerun all of our power to the buildings!  It feels like it's never really over!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!  The kids got a fun Easter box from Grandma Whitmer.  We made our traditional resurrection rolls.  Jeff and I went and did our daily ranch check.  We are so grateful for Christ and his sacrifice for us!  We can live again because of Him!  We are so thankful for our family and these wonderful blessings!

Spring!

Spring has sprung on the ranch!  We are always looking to see the grass come back after winter!  I will say this is more weeds than grass, but it's green and getting good coverage!  Sometimes we just take what we can get ;).
