The Big 1!!!

I'm not sure it's really been a year... but since the calendar says so...

Happy Birthday Baby Clark!
We sure love him!  We went to the Dr. that morning for his well check and here are his stats:

We'll just go with big :).  He's 90% for weight and 95% for height.  Such a cutie.

Oh, and just in case you forgot his baby info:

I also made him this shirt.  Well, made is relative... I mean, I cut out a 1 and sewed it on this shirt I already had :).  I'm looking forward to him wearing it!

OK, on to the party!
Presents:  He didn't know what to do with them at first.  Really, I just opened them and he chewed on whatever came out.  The girls gave him stuffed animals and the boys each made him something (with a little help).

Here is Clark with the ball Grant made him.  He really loves balls!

Talmage made him a blanket!  He likes to play peek-a-boo!

There he is!

Cake Time!

I'm not a fancy cake lady, and really it's just going to get destroyed so it's hard to think too creatively anyways - hence the circle beach ball cake ;).  He didn't know what to do with the candle so all the kids helped blow it out for him.

Then he wouldn't eat the cake.  I think his cautious nature is good, but it doesn't make for fun cake pictures ;).

I had to get some of it on my finger so he would try it.

Then he started to dig into the cake ... a little.

 Look a hand full!

And that's as good as it got.  It's better than Sandra who was afraid of the candle and wouldn't eat the cake, silly girl.  I think he was pretty full from the homemade pizza we had for dinner too!

The official present picture.

Playing peek-a-boo with the card from Grandma Whitmer.

His last bottle.

Cuddling with Daddy.

Tickle time!

Clark had a fun night.  He really doesn't get the whole birthday thing yet, but it was fun to celebrate and for the kids to be so excited for him!  He didn't go to sleep til after 10 pm though.  It was either all the cake (which he barely ate) or still adjusting from the shots.  Hopefully tonight will be better :).

I'll be doing his 1 year pictures soon and then I'll talk more about how great he is :).
We love you Baby!

Cassie's Wedding

Saturday night was Cassie's wedding.  We were happy that we got to go and attend!  Here she is being walked down the aisle by her dad, Uncle John :).

The ceremony

Right after the ceremony Talmage was staring out the window.  Too cute :)

The kids had a chance to run around outside afterwards.
Here is Clark enjoying the little pad outside.

Too funny not to share ;)

The wedding lineup for pictures:

We didn't stay very long since we still had a 3 hour drive back home to get the kids to bed.  It was a lovely evening and great to enjoy a very special occasion with family :).  Congrats to Cassie and Darryl!

Capital T

We went on our first family trip this last weekend.  OK, so maybe not our first, but our first where we didn't just go to see family and hang out in their homes.  Jeff's cousin, Cassie, was getting married and we decided to go down for the wedding.  We went down Friday after Jeff got off work.  We stayed in a hotel ;).  We totally forgot to take pictures of the hotel, but it was fun... especially the indoor pool :).  My baby loves to swim!  Oh, and the breakfast was great too!

Anyway... Saturday we headed out to see downtown Austin, or rather, the Capital of Texas.  It was super cool, and free.  We went to the visitor's center first, which used to be the Land Office for Texas.  They had some fun things for the kids too.

Here are Sandra and Mhari on the Saddle.

Grant's turn on the saddle

Talmage working on the computer.  There were games, interactive tours of the capital, and tons of Texas State information!

I am the statue on the top of the capital :)

OK, time to get to the capital... well, after we chase this squirrel first :)

There it is!  Oh and Jeff and the cute baby!

Talmage and Grant posing with a fake cannon outside the capital building.

Jeff and the kids in the middle of the capital.  We are getting ready for the tour :)

Looking up:  So cool!  That star is 8 feet across... just to give you a feel for how far away it is!

They have portraits of all of the Governors around the room.  I thought it was cool :)

Here is the House of Representatives (I think)

and the Senate

The Texas State Capital is the largest in the nation (Texas has to be the biggest), and that's because they remodeled and added 2 stories, underground, and 2 city blocks wide!  This is a cool rotunda that looks down into the rest of the capital offices.  The top of this is the city street.

On our way out of the grounds.

One more look at the capital :)

There are lots of other cool things we would love to see in Austin!  I guess we'll have to come back and check out more stuff!  It was great to do a quick get away with the kids.  They did great and had a fun time too :).  Wedding pictures will be coming soon!
