Debris

The loggers have been hard at work.  Which has actually meant a lot of tree limbs and debris.  It kind of feels like a war zone.  They have made huge burn piles... that I'm afraid to ever light on fire.  Then it's also crazy to drive anywhere with all the branches everywhere.  This process has been quite the eye opener that's for sure!

Break Out

The piglets have been gone for a little bit now.  We had been keeping Hogrid and Harriet separated... but then there was a breakout.  It looks like it might have been Harriet breaking into Hogrid's pen, but who knows.  I'm sure he was happy to reunite with Harriet either way.  Looks like we will be expecting another batch of piglets in November.  It would be nice to have a break from so many piglets, but I guess not yet :)

A New View

The pine trees have been coming down and we are getting a much better view.  However, some of the pine trees are still up.  Let's just say we aren't sure why they haven't taken everything down.  It is especially nice to see all the way down pasture 6.  While using the access from pasture 4 to 5 a truck hit our h-brace.  Looks like there will be more fence work in the future... which hopefully they will fix.  We closed up the fence for pasture 6 and the workers fixed the sand mess in pasture 5.  It may take a bit to get used to what the property looks like now.

Inside Out 2

Lorna really wanted to go see the movie "Inside Out 2" so I took her.  It wasn't quite what she was expecting, but it was a good movie.  I was fun to go together!  It even gave us some topics to discuss.  Anxiety was a main character in the movie.

Working Hard

Jeff and I have kept the porch project moving along.  We have started coming out during the evenings after work.  It's great to have the beams up for the porch!

The logging continues... The huge logging truck got stuck in our sandy soil.  It took a long time for them to get him free.  They have decided to run the trucks through pasture 4, instead of go up the sandy hill in 5.  I think the stuck truck definitely slowed down their progress for the day!

Begin the Logging

The loggers started on our property!  We are excited to have most of our old pine trees taken down.  It will be great so they don't just keep dying.  Also, the more loads they haul away the more money we get.  Every penny helps as we keep working on our house!  Their equipment is huge and they are making fast progress.

They opened up the fence between pastures 6 and 7 and have been dragging the trees into pasture 6 to delimb.  Let's just say there are a lot of dragging paths.  We are concerned how badly our pastures will be affected.  I guess we will see.  Hopefully this is a blessing for our property and our bank account ;).

Porch!

We got a Home Depot delivery... and it barely made it!  Sometimes the way things are packaged, or mishandled, sure makes you wonder about ordering things and having them delivered!
We were able to get some good progress started on our front porch!  It is so exciting to see it starting to come together!

Friends!

We love getting to meet up with friends!  It's been fun having our 6 Flags/Hurricane Harbor park passes.  This time we met up with the Hull and Jensen families.  The kids had a blast running around the park.  I loved getting to catch up with my good friend, Amanda!  Time flies, but making memories with our friends is sure worth it!

Cleaning Up

As projects go, there is always time to put things back in order and clean up.  We took some time to put the wood we have back into order and clean up around the house.  The garage is now organized and we can figure out how much more wood we need.  It's nice to have the space put back in order!

Helping Out

Our good friend and mentor, Steve Unger, passed away suddenly at the end of June.  His family has no idea what to do with his buffalo and what needs to be done.  Jeff and I offered to help while they are getting their bearings during this difficult time.  The first thing was to evaluate the herd and get a count of what animals Steve had.  Then we could make a game plan about how to move forward.  It was also good to get a feel for the animals overall health.  It's crazy that just a few short years ago he was showing us his bison for our family to enjoy.  Steve was a great man and we will sure miss him!

Windows to the Home

It was finally time to install the windows!  It looks so good to have the windows in!  The stress of breaking the windows is also lower.  Jeff and Grant did most of the work.  It sure is nice having Grant around!  It was a hot day.
Oh, and it was time for another trip to buy feed.  It's always good to be loaded up on another bag of feed for the bison.  We have to keep those moms strong to feed their calves!

FSY!

I dropped Mhari and Clark off at FSY in Denton today.  Everything went so fast that the only thing I got a photo of was Clark's besties, Zane and Zander.  At least I have proof for their mother that they arrived ;).

On my way back I stopped by Jeff's office to pick up mail.  I was just down the street from Tiffany's work so I decided to stop by and surprise her.  She had been having a hard day so it was fun to cheer her up!  It was a nice lunch break for both of us!

Lorna and I get to do all the things without the other kids this week.  We went to do ranch chores and Lorna found a turtle!  So fun!  We got some rain... and the house is still wet ;(.  It will be nice when this house is all sealed up and we don't have to worry about the weather!
