Taking Over

We set up the main compound area so that we could let the bison in to graze down the grass.  It was crazy to show up the next day and have bison all over the place!  They nibbled the hay, but for the most part they were pretty good!  It's crazy to see them out and about!  We even let out our mini herd to eat the grass by the squeeze chute.  I will say they are good little mowers!

Oh, and we are making progress on the last line for pasture 4!  I got brace wire set up on some of the h braces!  Pasture 4 will be up and running before we know it!

 

Permitted!

Mhari got her permit!  Time to start the process of teaching driving to my teen all over again!  They really do grow up too quickly!  16 will be here before we know it!

 

Birthday Bug

Our little Lorna turned 11!  It's crazy that it's been that long since she was born!  She is growing up so fast!  She loves animals, especially goats and horses.  She loves spending time with friends!  She is a good sister!  She even got a birthday buddy this year.  Our bison Megan had her calf on Lorna's birthday.  Little birthday buddies.  I think that may have been Lorna's favorite present ;).  

 

Baby Explosion!

When the calves started coming, they came a couple at a time.  I kind of figured it would taper off and the calves would come more in May.  Now at the end of April we have so many calves!  It's so amazing to see them all together!  We just love our little bison babies!

 

Seeding!

Steve lent us his seeder so that we could plant Bermuda grass for the summer.  Jeff planted pen B, C and 2.5 acre pasture.  It was a beautiful evening!  Jeff did a great job!  Here's to great grasses this summer! 

 

MORE Babies!

Last year we ended up having 2 calves, but this year the calves just keep coming!  It's so exciting!  The moms are being so good with their babies too!  Bison calves are so adorable!

 

Baby Season!

It is April and bison calves have already been arriving!  It's the earliest we have ever had calves before!  They are all coming so fast, it's amazing!  They are so cute and tiny!  The moms were nice enough to let us get close enough for some photos!  Yay for babies!!
